Parametric 3-D Solid Modeling
Due to the many distinct features of this cutaway assembly, coupled with lighting limitations, and the raster imaging technology inherent with many monitors (especially older ones), this image is difficult to render. A rendering to paper with today's high quality, inexpensive printers is much better.
This isometric view was rendered from the solid model above to a 2-D drawing format. Subsequently it was edited with AutoCAD 2-D to remove superfluous objects like "hole center lines", etc.
This capability was of immeasurable value with regards the illustrations submitted to the U.S. Patent Office to describe this assembly. As you can see (or imagine) from the "thumb nail" images below, graphically describing this assembly with the "standard" orthographic projections preferred by the Patent Office was a pretty tall order. The ability to augment the standard illustrations with an isometric view of the assembly "saved the day" in terms of conveying the proper message.
Five (5) view orthographic projection in conjunction with Four (4) isometric views.
